About Samba

Situated on range of Shivalik hills alongside the National Highway 1-A on the banks of river Basantar at a distance of forty km from Jammu city, Samba is a city and Municipal Committee in Samba district in the state Jammu and Kashmir.

Located at 32.57°N 75.12°E, Samba has an average elevation of 384 metres (1259 feet). It being a sub-tropical zone, the climate of the district is hot and dry in summer and cold in winter. The temperature ranges between -2 degree Celsius and 42 degree Celsius.

Samba can be reached through flight, train or bus. The distance from Jammu Airport (IXJ) to Samba is about 35 kms while that of Railway Station, Jammu to Samba is about 33 kms. Since Samba is situated on the National Highway NH1A, there are regular Buses plying from the other parts of the country connecting Samba.

About Degree College, Samba:

Govt. Degree College, Samba, affiliated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir. This college is a co-educational institution set amidst spectacular ambience with Nandini Hills on one side and Basantar on the other. The college caters to about 2700 students pursuing different academic courses in medical, non-medical, commerce and arts streams.
