"Veeron Ki Vaatika - Wall of Fame" Unveiled at SPPND GDC Samba as a Tribute to Martyrs of Samba Tehsil
On 23rd May 2025, SPPND Government Degree College, Samba, organized a solemn and inspiring curtain-raiser event to unveil its memorial initiative — “Veeron Ki Vaatika - Wall of Fame” — under the national campaign "Meri Maati Mera Desh". Supported by the Department of Higher Education, J&K and funded through the CAPEX budget, the initiative honours the valour and sacrifice of 18 bravehearts from Samba Tehsil, who laid down their lives for the nation.
The event began with the symbolic planting of 18 trees by the families of the martyrs and culminated in the presentation of the upcoming Wall of Fame, which stands as a permanent tribute to patriotism and national pride. Dignitaries including Shantmanu (Financial Commissioner, Higher Education), Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir (Director Colleges), and local leaders lauded the initiative for its emotional depth and educational significance.
Principal Dr. Twinkle Suri emphasized that the Wall of Fame would serve as a living legacy, inspiring future generations with the values of kartavya, samarpan, and deshbhakti.
The Wall, featuring engraved names and citations of the martyrs, is nearing completion and will be officially inaugurated soon.
