The Department of Mathematics- a vibrant academic hub was established since theinception of the college in 2005. In its history of 19 years it has grown considerably with avision to inculcate scientific temperament and futuristic thinking in students, by providing themwith extensive and diverse knowledge in the Mathematical sciences.Department of Mathematics of college offers Under Graduate programmes which areinnovatively designed and updated to keep pace with global trends in academics. TheDepartment emphasizes on experiential learning through various innovative methodologieswhich include seminars, tutorials, guest lectures, exhibitions, studentpresentations for the holistic development of the students.
The strengths of the Departments are its quality faculty, innovative and flexiblecurricula with their unique focus on under-graduate education and employability, state-of-theart facilities with remarkably high and open transparent policies that foster a healthy studentfaculty interaction. 2. Remedial and Tutorial Classes
Being considered as one of the most difficult subjects, mathematics is not learned by mere lectureprocess. That is why we as teachers of mathematics think that it is necessary to conduct remedialand free tutorial classes for students (especially for the students majoring in mathematics).Remedial classes are meant for the weaker students whereas tutorial classes are meant tostrengthen the mathematics problem-solving skills of students. Since 2005, the department hasbeen conducting these classes and they have yielded tremendous results.
3. Learning resources of the department: Library
There are nearly 200 books in the main library of the college with books from the nationalpublishers covering the entire UG curriculum and even Master’s syllabus.
4. Plan of Action for the next 5 years for the department
1. To set up a Mathematics Lab
2. To start M.Sc. Mathematics
3. To establish partnerships with universities/ research institutes/ industriesinstitutes to provide students with real -world research experiences.
4. To aware the students to participate in national/ International levelprogrammes and to open a facilitation centre for them.
