Govt. Degree College, Samba.affilated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir. This college is a co-educational institution starting with 94 students in 2005 and now it has 984 students at present. Initially, it was housed in Govt. Higher Secondary School (boys), Samba and in the year 2010,

Our Vision, at GDC Samba is to impart the quality education to the students and prepare them for future perspectives.Our Mission is to work like a catalyst of change, remove deficiencies, enhance quality and bring about synergy in academic, administration, infrastructure and support systems.

Internal Assesment

The College does not conduct any examination of its own. All the examinations are conducted by the University of Jammu. The University has laid down certain rules for appearing in the examination and for internal Assessment to be awarded to the students to the extent of 20% of total marks.

  • A student should have attended at least 75 % lectures out of the total lectures delivered during the academic session.
  • 5 % of the total internal Assessment marks shall be awarded for regularity of attendance according to the following scale (Both Theory and Practical):-
  • Below 75% of the total attendance                     -     shortage
  • From 75% to 80% of the total attendance          -     40 %
  • From 80.01 % - 85 %  of the total attendance    -     60 %
  • From 85.01% -  90 %   of the total attendance   -     80 %
  •  Above 90 %  of the total attendance                  -     100 %
  • 50 % marks in Practical papers at all levels are reserved for internal assessment.
  • 20 % marks in the theory paper are reserved for internal assessment.
  • The break-up of marks for each subject is as under:-

B.A/B.Sc./B.Com.Part - II and III
a) Assessment Tests   = 15 %
b) Attendance                     = 5 %
c) Total                               = 20 %
Ist internal Assessment Test will be held during the month of November and IInd internal Assessment test will be held during the month of February.
