Govt. Degree College, Samba.affilated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir. This college is a co-educational institution starting with 94 students in 2005 and now it has 984 students at present. Initially, it was housed in Govt. Higher Secondary School (boys), Samba and in the year 2010,

WELCOME -ADMISSION RULES

 

Admission Rules
A student who has passed the Higher Secondary Part-II Examination(Class 12th) of the J&K Board of School Education or an equivalent examination recognized as its equivalent by the UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU is eligible for admission to B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. Part-I.
2.  A student, whose result is declared late by the J&K Board, may be admitted as per admission rules of the UNIVERSITY , subject to the availability of seats.
3.  A student, who is admitted to the college and completes the minimum required attendance but either fails or does not appear in the ensuring University examination, will not be considered for admission in the same class again.
4.  A student with a break in academic career will not be considered for admission in the college. However, the principal may condone one year's break in case of a student. where he/ she feels convinced about the reasons leading to the break in studies.
5.  If a student, after being admitted, remains continuously absent for 14 days, he /she shall be removed from the college rolls and shall not be re-admitted to the same class during the same year. The year so wasted shall be counted as a year of break and dealt with under appropriated clauses if he /she presents himself for re-admission during the next year.
6.  No applicant for B.A/B.Sc. Part-I can take up Mathematics as subject unless he has qualified the higher secondary part-II or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
7.  Change of subject is not to be permitted in B.A./B.Sc. Part-II or B.A./B.Sc. Part-III.
8.  Admission to a particular subject or combination of subjects, is purely subject to the availability of seats.



Admission Process

Admission is open to students having state subjects and children of central Govt. Employees, Army and Para-Military Personnel's in J&K state.
2.     The admission schedule is announced every year containing detailed information and is published much earlier than the start of admission.
3.     Students seeking admission in B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. Part-I shall apply on printed Application Forms (Form No. I) available in the college. They will attach one attested copy each of the marks sheet of the higher secondary Part-II or other equivalent examination and provisional certificate and photocopy of category certificate as per S.R.O 126 of 1994 with the application. They should mention three combination choices within stream in order to preference as per the combinations available in the college. No change of combination shall be allowed after the admission. Students are advised in their own interest to apply for other streams and other colleges as well.
4.   On receipt of applications, selection list shall be drawn on the basis of merit (%age of marks obtained in class 12th).
5.     Students belonging to the reserved categories as listed in SRO-126 dated 28.06.1994 shall get additional weightage of 5 % marks.(i.e. 30 marks out of total of 600)
6.     A merit list of the candidates shall be put on the college notice board. The selected candidates shall then fill in the proper admission forms. The forms duly filled in and signed by the parents or guardian, shall be submitted to the college office on or before expiry of the last date, notified separately. The applications who do not submit the admission form with all the requisite certificates attached therewith and do not deposit the fee within the time limit prescribed, shall be dropped from the merit list and the next meritorious application shall be considered for admission.
7.     Subject to availability of seats, a second and third merit list shall be put up.
8.     The Principal reserves the right to accept or reject any application deemed not fit for admission without assigning any reason.
